Deacon Steven E. Sparks came to Immanuel in August of 2017.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Shepherd in Birmingham, Michigan.  In 1981 he moved to Royal Oak and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church returning to Our Shepherd in 2001.  While at Our Shepherd, he served as an Usher, Family Elder, became a member of the Board of Elders, served on their Visitation team, assisted with communion and liturgy and taught an occasional Bible Study.  
         In 1985, Deacon Steve graduated from Lawrence Technological University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture.  He has worked in this field for 40 years and currently owns his own business which supplies architectural services to other firms and residential design for clients.  God chose Deacon Steve to begin the Deacon program on May 1, 2016.
    Deacon Steve conducts Immanuel's worship services, Bible classes, visits with our home bound, and interacts with the children at our daycare, known as Hand n Hand, by teaching them about Jesus.  The Deacon has office hours on Thursday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm,  Other times are by appointment.  You can reach him at the church number - 313-278-5755.
          Deacon has two sons, Kyle and Brandon and two granddaughters, Kylie and Raven.  He is truly a blessing to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
